Nancy Corsones has 38 years of legal experience.

Ms. Corsones, a seasoned lawyer with over four decades of legal experience, retired after a distinguished career that spanned from 1983 to 2021. Throughout her practice, she focused on intricate family law matters, encompassing marital dissolution, termination of parental rights, guardianships, estates, and adoptions. Additionally, she engaged in general civil litigation, handling diverse cases ranging from employment matters to personal injury issues.

During her career, Ms. Corsones was not only a skilled litigator but also a proficient mediator, holding membership in the Academy of Professional Family Mediators. Her legal journey began in California before she transitioned to Vermont, where she represented a diverse clientele in civil, family, probate, criminal, and appellate matters. Over the years, Ms. Corsones garnered extensive trial and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) experience, successfully concluding numerous bench and jury trials. In light of her illustrious career, Ms. Corsones has now retired, leaving behind a legacy of legal expertise and dedication to her clients.

Attorney Corsones was appointed as a Judge to the Vermont Superior Court in 1997.  While on the bench, she presided over more than 500 bench and jury trials in all divisions of the trial court, including the civil, criminal, and family divisions, which include divorce matters, juvenile matters and the mental health/involuntary commitment docket.  She was also appointed as an acting Justice for the Vermont Supreme Court.  In 2003, Judge Corsones was the founding committee chair of Vermont's first federally supported Treatment Court.  In addition, she was state chair of the Guardian Ad Litem Advisory Committee, a member of the Family Division Oversight Committee, a former member of the Children and Family Council for Prevention Programs, and while in private practice, a member of the Professional Responsibility Board.  Judge Corsones was a member of the National Council for Juvenile and Family Court Judges, a former member of the New England Association of Drug Court Professionals, and completed, with distinction, many courses at the National Judicial College. These courses included "Managing Challenging Family Law Cases - A Practical Approach." In 2011, she was awarded the College's Certificate of Judicial Development, General Jurisdiction Trial Court Skills. 

Ms. Corsones retired from the Vermont Superior Court Bench in July, 2017. She then became a partner at Palumbo Lawyers, headquartered in Irvine, California, and managed the Phoenix office for that firm.  During that time, Attorney Corsones focused on construction defect and environmental litigation. In September of 2019, Attorney Corsones joined Tepper, Dardeck and Levins as a partner, continuing her civil litigation practice.  On January 1, 2021, Attorney Corsones, together with Attorney Fitzsimons, established Corsones and Fitzsimons, PLLC, specializing in civil and family litigation, real estate matters and estate planning. 

Attorney Corsones has published numerous legal articles, including “How Should Courts Respond To The Issue of Opiate Dependent Newborns - Finding Manageable Solutions in Agonizing Cases," "Family Court - A Day in the Life," and "Commonwealth Edison v. State of Montana: Constitutional Limitations of State Energy Resource Taxation." Attorney Corsones received her Juris Doctorate cum laude from Pepperdine University School of Law where she was managing editor of the Pepperdine Law Review.  She is admitted to practice in California (1983), Vermont (1984) and Arizona (2017), and is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court, District of Vermont, the United States Claims Court and the United States Tax Court.  She is a member of the Academy of Professional Family Mediators.

In light of her illustrious career, Ms. Corsones has now retired, leaving behind a legacy of legal expertise and dedication to her clients. Now retired, Nancy enjoys spending time with her family, working on a never-ending list of home improvement projects, and caring for her three dogs and cat.
